Long-term dry eye relief

Clinical

A single thermal pulsation treatment has been shown to improve signs and symptoms in patients with meibomian gland dysfunction and dry eye more than a year after the treatment took place.

The Lipiflow Thermal Pulsation System uses an application of prolonged heat and pressure directly to the inner lids resulting in expression of meibum from the meibomian glands.

Each single pulse treatment lasts around 12 minutes.

In a study, published in this month's Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology Journal, 30 subjects were treated and followed up after one month and 12 months.

Meibomian gland function, break-up times and dry eye symptoms were assessed at each stage and improvements in each were found at the one-month post-treatment stage.
