Forty Vision Express staff from around the country have competed a 160-mile cycle challenge to raise money for Childhood Eye Cancer Trust.
The riders, including retail systems engineer Darren Cole, CEO Jonathan Lawson and HR director PA Alice Jones were supported by three luxury BMWs supplied by Synter. The car dealer’s local business development manager Mark Lievesley handed over the vehicles. The multiple raised over £25,000 for the trust.
Alice Jones was surprised during the event with an unexpected proposal from fiancé Michael Tef, who popped the question by holding aloft a sign on Nottingham’s busy A52 bridge, as Jones cycled beneath,
Jones said: 'I recognised Michael’s car and couldn’t figure out why it was there. I looked around, and then saw him holding a sign saying ‘Will you marry me please?’, but by the time I’d seen it I was almost underneath the bridge. So I gave him the thumbs up, shouted yes, and carried on cycling.'
