In an interview last week with daily Il Sole 24 Ore, he said Luxottica's retail business performed well in October and November, but suffered in December.
He added that 2008 would be more challenging, but does not expect the economy in the US, where Luxottica achieves 65 per cent of its sales, to go into recession.
