A new frame buying programme called Luxboutique was launched by Luxottica at Optrafair exclusively for its independent practices.

The concept offered practitioners the opportunity to stock up to four of the manufacturer's 'niche luxury' brands - Persol, Burberry, Miu Mui and Tiffany & Co.

A mix of frames for each brand were chosen by Luxottica. The manufacturer said selections were 'thoughtfully designed to reflect bestsellers, special edition pieces and the most commercial styles from new releases'. It added that all available data would be used to ensure balanced UK-specific collections.

'The four brands are special and unique in their own ways. The one thing that unites them is their niche status and as such they are not highly distributed. Servicing these brands effectively requires a different approach to an on-the-road account manager,' said Luxottica trade marketing manager Harry Heyman.
