Luxottica and Burberry have agreed a 10-year licence agreement for the design, production and worldwide distribution of Burberry frames and sunglasses from January 1 2006.
Leonardo Del Vecchio, chairman of Luxottica Group said that Burberry, founded in 1856, was one of the world’s most distinctive and dynamic luxury brands, with particular strength in the US and Japan.
‘The Burberry licence represents the first step in a process of more proactively managing our brands portfolio. We expect this will result in a further strengthening of what is already one of the best-balanced brand portfolios in our industry.’
