An £85,000 grant awarded to the Macular Society by City Bridge Trust will go towards developing the sight loss charity’s network of peer support groups and services across Greater London.
The funding will help the Macular Society provide practical and emotional support for more people with macular disease for the next three years.
It will also see the charity maintain volunteer-led support groups and add five new groups by the end of 2022, as well as help with recruiting and training of volunteers.
Cathy Yelf, chief executive of the Macular Society, said: ‘At present, we only reach an estimated 10% of people living in London with macular disease. Thanks to this funding from City Bridge Trust, we’ll be able to reach many more people who urgently need our support.’
