Macuvision renews support for Awards

Optician Awards

Macuvision has joined the line-up of sponsors for the 2013 Optician Awards which opened for entries last week.

The supplier of the Macushield supplement sponsored the Multiple Practice of the Year award last year for the first time and has renewed its relationship with Optician to back the category in 2013.

Following the launch of the Awards, Optician will be publishing a series of articles providing tips on how to choose the right award for you. Following requests from entrants for tips, Optician will offer pointers on getting the best from your entry and some clues as to what the judges will be looking for. The first article will focus on the Vision for Life Award sponsored by Johnson & Johnson, the Dry Eye Award sponsored by Spectrum Thea, the Start Up Practice of the Year and the Business Excellence Award.

Later this month categories for all areas of practice will be looked at in more detail. These include the Technology Practice of the Year sponsored by Grafton Optical and its technology partner Optovue, The Independent Practice of the year sponsored by Hoya and the Premium Lens Practice of the Year sponsored by Transitions. Later articles will give advice on the product categories and the awards for people working in practice. These include the Contact Lens Practitioner of the Year sponsored by Alcon and the Optometrist of the Year sponsored by CooperVision.

A full run-down of the categories open for entry can be found at http://www.opticianawards.com/ with descriptions of what the judges will be looking for. The closing date for entries is January 18 with the judging taking place in early February. The Awards will be presented at a glittering black tie bash at the Hilton Metropole at the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham, on April 13, the Saturday night of Optrafair.
