Mainline Instruments has added ICare’s ic100 tonometer to its product portfolio.

The company said the device was its most advanced tonometer available and offered better performance and practicality than those currently on the market.

The portable ICare tonometers are used to test for glaucoma in ‘at risk’ patients.

Mainline Instruments said they were commonly favoured by practitioners as a patient friendly alternative to the traditional puffer test and also eliminated the need for anaesthetic eye drops. The ic100 uses a rebound measuring, which uses a very light probe to make momentary and gentle contact with the patient’s cornea. This makes the device suitable for use for a range of patients including the very young, the frail and those with a learning disability.
