The Marathon Mates challenge encourages people to raise money for the RNIB

The Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) has called for people to pair up and split the distance of a marathon during May while raising money for the charity.

Marathon Mates was inspired by the way people with sight loss run with a guide runner and participants can choose to run or walk with a partner either side by side or separately.

Lizzie Wagner, senior challenge events manager at the RNIB, said: ‘The last year has been particularly challenging for blind and partially sighted people, with the pandemic presenting a number of issues around accessing information, food and feeling isolated from others.
