Marchon launches upgraded Airlock

Marchon UK has launched the new 720 series of Airlock, a new propriety mounting system.

The system is an upgrade of the original, and has been designed to increase retention strength and make drilling and mounting simpler for both the lab and practitioner. The mount has been tested to require 44lbs of pressure before separation.
The plastic fastener mounts from behind the lens and slips up over a three-barbed pin, instead of using a perfect hole size and alignment to keep the lens in place, as was the case with the previous system.
The 720 series is interchangeable with the original Airlock design, so customers will still have the same range of colours and lens shapes. Lenses cut for the original system will fit into the new hardware.
A number of glazing labs have tested the product and the company says they are happy to recommend it, including Birmingham Optical, Carl Zeiss, Quality Optical and Kudos Optical.
Marchon UK's managing director Andy Cockayne said: 'We are really pleased with this new series, and believe we have managed to improve on the original design. We have also had some fantastic feedback from the labs that have already used the new system.'
