The Lord Mayor of London, Alderman Michael Savory (left), was the guest of honour at the Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers' court luncheon last week.The Lord Mayor was welcomed by the new Master of the SMC, John Baker just two and half hours into his tenure.
Two medals were presented after lunch. The fourth Ruskell (bronze) medal was awarded to Marta Vianya-Estopa for her doctorate study at the University of Bradford. A graduate of the University of Barcelona, she was awarded the medal as being the first named author of an article on 'The development of a critical flicker/fusion frequency test for a potential vision testing in media opacities'.
The first-ever Outstanding Service medal was awarded to author, former examiner and SMC website manager Tony Jarratt.
