UK advice and support company MDDUS has advised that eye care practitioners are mindful of the consequences of patients’ test results.
This follows a recent case study that the company dealt with, where a lorry driver has a visual acuity test as required by his job. The doctor recorded an uncorrected score of 6/9 in each eye but then received a solicitor’s letter on behalf of the lorry driver stating that the scores did not meet the DVLA’s minimum standards and his HGV licence has been revoked.
He later had an eye test at an opticians’ practice while wearing glasses, met the standards and reapplied for his licence.
