A Minor Eye Conditions Service (Mecs) contract has been awarded to Specsavers by Surrey Downs CCG.
The multiple said it entered the any qualified provider tender process after consulting with Surrey LOC beforehand to check it was not bidding for the contract. ‘They informed us that they would not be bidding for the contract as they did not have an active primary eyecare company (PEC) in place,’ said a Specsavers spokesperson.
However, in the run up to the deadline, the LOC informed Specsavers that it would be submitting a bid. The company said because it had already spent time developing the tender, it decided to continue with the bidding process on the basis that it could work with the LOC in delivering a cooperative Mecs.
