Menicon: Corneal comfort

Menicon has launched a new version of its Rose K2 XL lens for irregular corneas

Menicon has launched a new version of its Rose K2 XL lens for irregular corneas, which the company said would provide patients with better sight and greater comfort.

The oblate option was designed for use after grafts, photorefractive keratectomy or laser surgery.

Menicon said the daily lens could be used for any oblate cornea that cannot be fitted within the limbus, including flat corneas where the tear layer thickness is excessively deep over the central cornea.

Rose K2 XL was said to mimic the shape of the oblate cornea for every stage of the condition, which meant it fits the patient’s eye more accurately and promotes optimum corneal health and improved visual acuity.

Kevin Mitchell, managing director at Menicon UK, said: ‘By adding this new option to the Rose K2 XL lens, we are allowing an even greater number of patients with irregular corneas to enjoy the benefits of a precision lens that’s comfortable enough to be worn every day.’
