Minister watches SeeAbility in action

Maria Caulfield MP visited Perseid School in London

Maria Caulfield MP, minister for primary care and patient safety, visited Perseid School in London to see children having their eyes tested by SeeAbility.

The minister met children who were part a project being carried out in over 90 special schools where eye care was provided in the more familiar environment of school.

Speaking during the visit, Caulfield said: ‘The new NHS Special Schools Eye Care Service is making a real difference to these children’s lives. Together with SeeAbility, the NHS is reducing unnecessary hospital trips and improving the lives and outcomes of tens of thousands of children with learning disabilities.’

Perseid School headteacher, Tina Harvey, said the difference in providing eye care in school was profound and had improved the lives of many of its pupils.
