US designer brand Barton Perreira has released its spring/summer 2014 ophthalmic frame and sunglass collections. Styles in the new 18-stong collection have been handcrafted in Japan.

The women’s Filly ophthalmic frame (1) has a retro rounded-off cat’s eye shape with heavy brow bars. The result is a feminine interpretation of the iconic Clubmaster silhouette. Mixed acetate and metal construction is on trend, as is the matt finish.

Equally retro is the men’s Zalon frame (2), with its panto-inspired eye shape. Inlayed enamel detailing on the brow section and temples give the frame an added sense of modernity, as does the brushed metal finish. The women’s Feldon sunglass (3) is a bolder affair, with an oversize round silhouette inspired by Andy Warhol’s pop art portrait of Barbara Feldon. Layered acetate is evident around the eye shape, which is enhanced by a contrasting animal print pattern within the acetate.
