Optician clinical editor Bill Harvey and son Spike were two of around 850 walkers who took part in the Fight for Sight’s Carrots Nightwalk last week. The event, which also took place in Birmingham, Glasgow and Cardiff, has helped the charity raise over £200,000 in the past two years. Participants, many in full carrot costumes, were led by British Paralympic runner and five times gold medallist Noel Thatcher. Walks ranged from a six-mile stroll to a more gruelling overnight 26-mile marathon-length trek. Donations can be made via www.justgiving.com/william-harvey3.
