Moorfields and UCL to deliver College qualification

collegeofoptometristslogoMoorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has teamed up with The Institute of Ophthalmology at University College London (UCL) to offer the College of Optometrists’ Higher Certificate in Glaucoma.

The qualification was to be delivered as part of a Postgraduate Certificate in Advanced Clinical Optometry (Glaucoma), with the first students to be admitted from January 2015.

A statement said this was part of a ‘growing collection of higher qualifications offered by the College of Optometrists to enable optometrists to provide extended services in key areas such as low vision, contact lens practice and medical retina’. The UCL-Moorfields partnership was also developing a suite of specialist postgraduate awards in these areas and would be seeking accreditation from the College of Optometrists.
