'More CET points than ever' at PAC

Details of this year's PAC conference are released today.
The one-day Birmingham conference, which attracted over 1,200 delegates last year, promises attendees that they can earn 'more CET points than ever before', and up 14 CET credits are expected to be available.
The Specsavers Opticians Professional Advancement Committee Conference has established itself as the largest one-day clinical conference of its kind in Europe, and is held at the city's ICC venue.
Lecture topics for this year include acute retinal disorders, paediatric binocular vision disorders, AMD diagnosis and referral, occupational dispensing, low vision, silicone hydrogels, legal issues and toric problem-solving. The keynote speaker will be Dr Jan Bergmanson, professor of optometry at Houston University, who will discuss differential diagnosis of dry eye and management in practice.
Themed as 'Your route to success', the conference will offer three parallel tracks - clinical, dispensing and contact lenses. Delegates can mix and match which presentations they attend, to suit their personal and professional needs, with a full day's attendance worth eight CET credits. Extra CET credits can be gained through picture-recognition tests, which will also be reproduced in CD-Rom format following the event.
PAC, established 11 years ago, is a steering group run independently by optical practitioners, with the support of Specsavers, seeking 'to develop a culture of excellence in optics', and to promote widespread access to CET.
Open to all UK practitioners, and not just Specsavers' staff, tickets cost £115, and PAC 2005 will take place on Sunday October 16.
