A four-month initiative run by Optical Express to promote the benefits of laser eye surgery within the profession has resulted in 847 procedures and prompted nearly 1,100 practitioners and students to have consultations.
The multiple offered free laser eye surgery to any GOC registered optical professional or student in August last year (News 23.08.13).
A survey conducted revealed that 94.3 per cent of those that had the procedure said it would change how they discussed laser eye surgery with their patients and 82.8 per cent would go on to recommend it to them. Almost 90 per cent felt it had improved their quality of life and 95 per cent said they would now recommend it to friends and family.
