Moulsdale joins the Rich List

Perennial entrants to the Sunday Times Rich List, founders of Specsavers Opticians Doug and Mary Perkins, were joined this year by Optical Express boss David Moulsdale. The Scotsman, who founded the business in 1991, is estimated to be worth £70m, with his latest acquisition being the Co-Op Eyecare group last year (News, August 31 2001). ÔMoulsdale is focusing on becoming BritainÕs largest optical retailer,Õ the Rich List commented, and Ôit would take a brave man to bet against him.Õ Mr Moulsdale is estimated to be ScotlandÕs 43rd richest person (514th in the UK). Mary Perkins is estimated to be BritainÕs 31st most wealthy woman, and with her husband has a combined wealth amounting to a reported £80m.
