Move over Frost, it's 'Breakfast with Hodd'

Early risers will benefit from a special Sunday breakfast information session at next month's BCLA clinical conference.

'Breakfast with Hodd' - chaired by independent practitioner Nigel Burnett Hodd - will aim to answer some of the pressing questions arising from changes to the Opticians Act related to the contact lens sector.

A panel of experts will respond to delegates who want to know if it will be possible for your local supermarket to sell contact lenses. Other questions raised may include 'Can the contact lens companies refuse to supply supermarkets, or would this be a restrictive practice?' and 'Can contact lens practitioners reduce the impact by the use of a fee system?'

From 8am-9am on the Sunday of the Brighton conference, Burnett Hodd will host a breakfast session reviewing the forthcoming changes to the law, which will be followed by an open discussion with delegates and key contact lens professionals all giving their views.

Also on the panel will be Dr Rob Hogan, professional services director at Dollond & Aitchison;  Rob Hollin, managing director of Johnson & Johnson Vision Care for the UK and Ireland; Andrew Sedgwick, managing director of CooperVision's Northern European business; and Brian Tompkins, independent practitioner in Northampton. Tomkins is a key opinion leader on PureVision for Bausch & Lomb, a clinical consultant to Ciba Vision and professional advisory panel member for Johnson & Johnson Visioncare.

A breakfast buffet will be served, and no pre-booking is required for the June 5 meeting.

The British Contact Lens Association's Clinical Conference and Exhibition will be held from June 3-5.
