The chief of a leading vision charity has been invited to Westminster to discuss the future of eye research.

Shrewsbury and Atcham MP Daniel Kawczynski invited Fight for Sight chief executive Michele Acton to the House of Commons, on November 5, where she was also presented a cheque for funds raised for eye research.

Kawczynski, who became a patron for Fight for Sight in 2012, told how constituent Audrey Piggot had raised £1,000 for the charity.

He said: ‘Audrey is a pillar of the community. What a generous act of kindness to celebrate her milestone birthday by donating funds to Fight for Sight. People like Audrey really help make a difference and support the vital eye research work that Fight for Sight does.’
