MP for Gedling Vernon Coaker visited Thomas Bond Opticians in Arnold, Nottingham this month to learn why regular sight tests are important in preventing blindness

MP for Gedling Vernon Coaker visited Thomas Bond Opticians in Arnold, Nottingham this month to learn why regular sight tests are important in preventing blindness.

He also met with the Nottinghamshire Local Optical Committee (LOC) to find out more about the greater role local optical practices are playing across the county.

Community optical practices across Nottinghamshire provide services including monitoring patients with glaucoma and treating urgent-but-minor eye problems – taking the pressure off over-stretched hospital eye departments.

Coaker said: ‘I was delighted to visit Thomas Bond Opticians and see the important work they do in helping local residents protect their sight and improve their vision.
