
Optical coherence tomography imaging is now live in 500 Specsavers practices nationally, following a launch at the multiple’s Chippenham store.
Specsavers has made a £35m investment to bring OCT technology to its 900 sites in the UK and Ireland. It plans to have finished installing the machines nationally by Spring 2020.
Tom Mogford, optometrist director and head of enhanced optical services at Specsavers Chippenham, said: ‘We made the decision to invest in two OCTs to ensure there were no delays for customers if they wanted to have the scan.
‘Having this kind of machine available on the high street means we can see people who would otherwise have to go to hospital, freeing up time for eye departments to see the most urgent and serious cases.’
