Online retailer Glasses Direct has set its sights on massive expansion in the next 12 months with a £10m turnover target following a move into a bigger distribution centre to cope with escalating demand.
Founder Jamie Murray Wells told Optician this week that the move to the new 10,000sq ft warehouse in Swindon was part of the company's rapid expansion plan put in place after the business secured a $6m (£3m) cash injection from two venture-capital investors.
As reported in Optician, (News, July 27), Wells secured $4m from Index Ventures, which previously backed the internet telephone site Skype and Betfair, the online gambling group and $2m from Highland Capital Partners, a $1.8bn company with a listing on the NASDAQ.
