CooperVision launched MiSight 1 day contact lenses in China

In partnership with its regional distributor, EssilorLuxottica, CooperVision has launched MiSight 1 day contact lenses in China.

CooperVision said China was the largest country in need of myopia management options, adding that MiSight 1 day was he first product of any type that had an indication from the Chinese National Medical Products Administration for slowing the progression of axial length.

At a livestreamed launch event, Professor Xingtao Zhou, Dean of the Eye and ENT Hospital of Fudan University, underlined China’s needs for a suite of myopia management products. He presented data showing the overall prevalence of myopia among Chinese children and adolescents in 2018, 2019 and 2020 was 53.6%, 50.2%, and 52.7%, respectively. In 2020, the myopia rate for students in primary school, middle school, and high school reached 35.6%, 71.1%, and 80.5, respectively.
