National Eyecare Group and CeCop merge

Independent buying groups, CECOP (Central de Compras Ópticas) and the National Eyecare Group (NEG) have announced a merger between the two companies.

NEG, which said it had more than 1,000 members, was formed in 1979 under the guise of Percy Kirk, by Michael Daunt and Mike Wheeler to help practices establish preferred terms with suppliers and simplified administration.

CECOP specialises in providing its 8,000 independent optician members in the US, Latin America and mainland Europe with strategic solutions across all areas of operational management. CECOP CEO, Jorge Rubio, said: ‘For the whole family of CECOP, it is a pleasure to welcome NEG into the fold. With this important step, we have become a reality in the biggest market in Europe and the Americas.’
