Sight loss organisations Thomas Pocklington Trust and Visionary have together launched an alliance to champion services for visually impaired people.
More joined up local sight loss services will be developed, a statement said, as well as efforts to join up service delivery between local and national voluntary organisations, as well as NHS services and local government programmes of support for people living with sight loss.
Thomas Pocklington Trust has supported the establishment of voluntary organisations including East London Vision, South East London Vision and Birmingham Vision, while championing the implementation of the UK Vision Strategy.
The new alliance would work alongside national sight loss charities including the RNIB Group , Guide Dogs, Blind Veterans UK and Vision 2020 UK.
Philip Longworth, chair of Visionary, said: ‘This is great news for Visionary and our members. We are excited about our ambitious plans to create a strong, sustainable national network of local sight loss voluntary organisations. The alliance with Thomas Pocklington Trust means a very bright future for our organisations and the people we support.’
