Optometry Giving Sight has announced BBR Optometry managing director Nick Rumney has joined its UK National Committee as chair. He replaces former AOP chairman Bob Hughes, who stepped down in December. On the appointment, Rumney said: 'I am passionate about practical clinical education in the world of optics as well as having an avowed international view; Optometry Giving Sight dovetails perfectly. I have always been impressed by its role in mobilising resources from our profession in order to develop people as optometrists and opticians in under-served communities.' Optometry Giving Sight said Rumney was a long-term supporter of the charity and was officially the first regular donor in the UK when it was founded.
