New chief executive joins RCOphth

Ali Rivett has been announced as the successor to Kathy Evans in the role of chief executive at the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (RCOphth).

Rivett joined from the British Society for Rheumatology (BSR) and he has over 15 years of experience working in the healthcare sector. Rivett will start at the RCOphth on June 5 once Evans has retired on May 24 after 26 years of service.

Bernie Chang, president of the RCOphth, said: ‘Ali showed great knowledge and understanding of the health sector and, importantly, the challenges facing membership bodies. We were particularly impressed with his achievements at the BSR in the development of strategy and staff inclusion.’
