College of Optometrists recognises outstanding contributions to the profession

Five new fellows have been elected by the College of Optometrists as recognition of their outstanding contributions to the profession.

At a ceremony in Westminster on Tuesday, the College welcomed Professor Martin Rubinstein and Professor David Thomson as life fellows and Professor John Sparrows and Andrew Yorke as honorary fellows.

A fellow by portfolio award was also given to Gavin Galloway.

President of the College of Optometrists Dr Mary-Ann Sherratt said: ‘Fellowship is the College’s highest qualification and it is an acknowledgement of commitment to the profession, experience and accomplishments. It was an absolute privilege to present these awards and acknowledge the hard work, commitment and exceptional contribution these individuals have made to advance optometry and eye care.’
