Funding for technology Major funding to help develop new technology to detect sight threatening diseases has been awarded to NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, two universities and Scottish instrument maker Optos.

Scientists and clinicians from NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde along with Optos and the Universities of Strathclyde and Kent have been awarded £1.1m funding from Innovate UK and Optos to develop new imaging technology that could show eye disease at an earlier stage than the current crop of devices. A new type of laser will be developed which will monitor the function of cells.
