The exhibition, cancelled this year, ran for the first time last year under the ownership of publisher Miller Freeman over three days at Olympia. However, after poor attendances the publisher sold the rights to Jason Kirk, owner of Kirk Originals who was one of driving forces to get the show up and running in the first place. Now the show is to be resurrected at the same time in the optical show calendar, but as a two-day show at a new venue. 'There are many British designers and British distributors of eyewear with cool products,' he said this week. 'It is important that they exhibit in the right environment and, with an amazing new venue and some of the best international eyewear designers, that is precisely what LIO offers.' Mr Kirk was keen to point out that LIO is a separate event to Eye Fashion, the Islington optical fashion fair held earlier this year. 'LIO is a unique exhibition. In an increasingly competitive market place, anyone retailing eyewear needs to be aware of the ranges that are available to them in order to differentiate themselves from their competitors. LIO provides an opportunity to see those products.' The show will take place at the London Docklands venue, Excel, from February 3-4, and organisers expect around 100 global designers to attend.
