Nike Vision and Transitions have teamed up to introduce the Nike MAX Transitions range of sports specific sunglasses.
The range mixes the adaptive lens technology of Transitions with the brand strength and styling of Nike for a range designed to help improve sporting performance.
There are two tints - the golf tint (1), a violet colour designed to improve contour recognition on the greens and increase ball visibility and the outdoor tint (2), a green lens to brighten shadows, increase contrast and enhance vision in country environments for activities like hiking and trail running. All lenses are polycarbonate and photochromic, with full UV protection.
The lenses come in Nike's Show X2 frame with adjustable temples and nose pads, plus ventilation to reduced fogging. Typical uses are for training, golf, tennis and cycling.
For full-on golfing use, the SQ frame is inspired by the design of the Nike SQ golf clubs and offers a wide field of view.
Nike MAX Transitions lenses will also be offered as an accessory lens for the Skylon Ace, Skylon Ace Pro and Show X2 Pro.
'These sunglasses are a game changer,' said Grady Lenski, global director, Transitions Sunwear. 'By combining the best-in-class brand leadership of Nike with Transitions adaptive sun lenses, athletes and sport enthusiasts now have another important piece of equipment to help them up their game.'
An Rx version of the lens is currently in development.
