The Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers (WCSM) has formed a new charity by combining two trusts.
The Spectacle Makers’ Charity will amalgamate the efforts and funds of a trust that promoted support for optical education with another that provided services to those living with visual impairments.
Liz Shilling, the Spectacle Maker’s Charity’s new chair, commented: ‘This is a very exciting development. Our new charity looks forward to supporting all aspects of optical education and enhancing the lives of vision impaired people and their families.’
Shilling also noted that the coronavirus pandemic has created challenging times for vision charities and people beginning their careers in eye health. ‘The Spectacle Maker’s Charity will play its part in helping them, as part of our ongoing mission to support better vision for all,’ she added.
