Fraud Awareness Month (FAM) will take place from November 9 to December 9 to coincide with the United Nations worldwide anti-corruption day and the European Fraud and Corruption Awareness campaign.
FAM was organised by the NHS Counter Fraud Service to persuade NHS professionals that fraud exists and takes resources away from important services. Over the past three years, NHS counter fraud specialists have organised successful events at health bodies in England and Wales.
This year Local Counter Fraud Specialists (LCFS) will identify and target those areas where health fraud awareness may be low and take action to develop an anti-fraud culture. Areas of optical fraud identified are exemption form claims submitted by practitioners, claims for items not covered by prescription and items of service not provided.
