An NHS website (www.eyesite.nhs.uk) has been developed by Moorfields Hospital for practitioners to show children how the eye works. This follows a research project with Moorfields Children's Centre to create interactive resources for children under five years. A 'teensight' section for children aged 12-19 includes an animated eye, virtual children's eye hospital, and explanations of tests and procedures. There are also fact sheets on eye conditions including childhood glaucoma, squint and myopia. Moorfields consultant and children's services lead Alison Davies, discussing the need to begin treatment for amblyopia as early as possible, said: 'Accessible, easy-to-understand material, which can be used to explain to the under-fives why the patch is a vital part of their treatment, is vital as it encourages them to use the patch and distracts them from pulling it off.'
