The Department of Health (DoH) and the Optometric Fees Review Committee (OFRC) have reached a three-year deal for sight fest fees, announcing a marginal increase for the current financial year.
Under the deal the sight test fee will rise by 2.5 per cent to £19.80 in the current financial year backdated to April 2008. According to a statement from OFRC, the fee will then rise by 2.3 per cent in April 2009 and by 2.2 per cent in 2010.
It was also announced that domiciliary fees will rise by the same percentages over the three years. With effect from April 2008 £34.87 will be payable for the first two patients seen at one visit and £8.83 for subsequent patients.
