Nice updates diabetic retinopathy guidance

Latest guidance has been released by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (Nice) on managing and monitoring diabetic retinopathy in people under the care of hospital eye services.

The guidance for professionals, including secondary care practitioners, featured a nine-page visual summary on managing diabetes to support best eye care, cataract surgery, non-proliferative and proliferative diabetic retinopathy and diabetic macular oedema.

All healthcare professionals involved in caring for people with diabetic retinopathy were advised to discuss how good long-term management of their diabetes could have long-term benefits for their vision.
