Nikon pledges to pay real Living Wage

Lenses Business

Nikon Lenswear UK pledged to pay UK employees a wage in line with real living costs since March 1, as a newly accredited Living Wage Employer.

This was a voluntary commitment to pay above both the statutory minimum wage and National Living Wage, with the real Living Wage currently at £10.90 per hour and a higher rate of £11.95 for London.

Jill McLellan, managing director of Nikon Optical UK, said: ‘The optical world is rich with qualified professionals and skilled talents who I believe should be retained and motivated through being fairly rewarded for their commitment to the industry. That’s why our commitment is to every employee at Nikon Lenswear UK, in our offices and in our manufacturing facility, for full-time, part-time and third-party contracted staff.’
