A GOC fitness to practise committee has found two Cardiff optometrists guilty of 'deficient professional performance'.
However, the Council has taken no further action against Sasha Louise Macken and Wilfred Hugh Phillips, who worked at Julian Davies Opticians in St Mellons, Cardiff.
As reported in Optician, (May 25), both optometrists faced GOC disciplinary proceedings over their treatment of a 67-year-old radiographer, who was not diagnosed until later as suffering from glaucoma. During the hearing, it emerged that the patient was seen by Macken, Phillips and Julian Davies, the owner of the practice.
No allegations were made against Davies though it emerged late in the hearing that he had been before the GOC's investigating committee earlier and had been made subject of a 'performance review'.
