No case to answer against optometrist

Shabbir Kaderbhai's fitness to practice to hearing ends with no case to answer

The General Optical Council (GOC) has found no case to answer in the fitness to practise hearing of optometrist and practice director, Shabbir Kaderbhai.

Allegations made against the practitioner included failing to adequately advise a patient by not informing them of their option to keep existing spectacles and not purchase new ones.

Kaderbhai was also alleged to have failed to provide the patient with a copy of their prescription following the sight test and failing to implement a system of issuing prescriptions to patients.

It was alleged that the optometrist’s fitness to practise was impaired by reason of misconduct and deficient professional performance, but found no case to answer.
