No date agreed for resumption of GOS

The OFNC is in discussions with NHS England and expects a date to be announced shortly

A date has not yet been agreed by NHS England for full resumption of face-to-face general ophthalmic services (GOS), the Optometric Fees Negotiating Committee (OFNC) has confirmed.

The OFNC said that it expects a resumption date to be announced soon and that it hopes instructions will be to provide service from rather than on that date.

It added that in order to ensure patient and staff safety, practices should review their plans to resume GOS work once the date has been announced.

There have also been discussions around the need for financial support because of how social distancing and infection control would affect capacity, the OFNC explained.
