Association expresses concern over allegations made in blue light investigation

The Association of British Dispensing Opticians (ABDO) has expressed its deep concern over the allegations made in Wednesday's BBC Watchdog that dispensing opticians in branches of Vision Express and Boots Opticians had given incorrect advice over the effects of blue light.

‘There is absolutely no evidence that the persons filmed were dispensing opticians,’ said ABDO general secretary Tony Garrett.

‘Indeed, it is clear most were certainly not DO's. We regard this issue as a serious one, but deplore the inaccurate statements about dispensing opticians made by the programme. We will be raising this with the BBC and programme makers.’
