No7 Contact Lenses has added a video module to the Medmont E300 scanner to allow practitioners to record tear film break up time.
The manufacturer released the new topographer record function after an increased number of practitioners acquired LOC contracts last year to offer soft contact lens fittings for dry eye in practice. It was developed to be a tool for optometrists to observe the wetting performance of the lens.
Sales manager James Proctor stated: ‘Running a dry eye management programme is a certain way to make money, as the condition affects around 15% of the population. It can show how the tear film is breaking up and this has a real impact with compliance to treatment.’
Those who have purchased the scanner gain access to the recorded scan on the machine’s internal memory, or on the secure online patient records via applicable practice management systems. Default recording length is set on the machine to 10 seconds, but this can be reduced or extended.
