Contact lens manufacturer No7 has set out to increase its production capacity through a £100,000 investment in a new ultra-precision CNC ophthalmic lathe.
The bespoke lathe will be able to produce spheric, aspheric, toric, defractice and other non-symmetrical designs, which means No7 will be able to manufacture much more complex lenses than before.
Kevin Sanders, process and R&D manager at No7, said the new development also allowed ‘more robotic automation’, adding: ‘Not only is it designed to produce the most complex lenses but it will also increase our production considerably.’
