Eye on the ball: Norville has been testing the eyes of players from Gloucester Rugby Club as part of a partnership between the two organisations. Norville, which has 11 practices around Gloucestershire, is providing eye care for the players and staff as well as sponsorship of Gloucester Rugby TV: the club’s online video channel.

In addition to eye examinations the team will benefit from some of the latest OCT technology which enables a 3D image of the various layers inside the eye to be built up and recorded. If repeated over a period of time changes detected in the scans can give a vital early warning of several serious conditions before they even become apparent to the patient. ‘Even strapping great rugby players need their eyes examined regularly,’ said Norville Opticians Director Adrian Street. ‘I am delighted that we are able to make this exciting capability available to the team.’ Gloucester prop Dan Murphy undergoes testing from Norville Opticians optometrist John Everett.
