Novartis delivered a strong financial performance in the second quarter of 2010, underpinned by increased momentum in innovation, with double-digit growth and 'excellent' contributions from all divisions.

Novartis delivered a strong financial performance in the second quarter of 2010, underpinned by increased momentum in innovation, with double-digit growth and 'excellent' contributions from all divisions.

The three Consumer Health businesses, including CIBA Vision, had second-quarter net sales of $1.5bn, up 7 per cent, with each division growing ahead of their markets. In Europe, second quarter net sales for Consumer Health were up 5 per cent at $0.6bn, most notably in France, the UK and Germany.

First half sales were also up 7 per cent at $3bn, thanks to strong growth of key brands. 'CIBA Vision, the fastest-growing lens care business, continues its strong performance with AirOptix and its expansion in all regions,' Novartis stated.
