The RNIB has highlighted the direct link between obesity and eye disease in a new report entitled Feeling great, looking good, supported by Boots Opticians.

According to the report, there are 10 million obese adults and two million obese children in the UK who are at double the risk of losing their eye sight.

Barbara McLaughlan, RNIB eye health consultant said: 'With a staggering one in five adults and children in the UK now considered to be obese, the RNIB believes it is vital that people are made aware of the risks to their sight.'

In response to the findings, Boots Opticians has launched the 'Big Eye Test Week' from September 3-9 offering free full eye tests for everyone.
